How do you store your child's bike helmet?
Properly storing this safety equipment and taking care of it will ensure that your helmet retains its shock absorption properties over the months and years.
To store a child's bike helmet, choose:
1 – A SPOT PROTECTED FROM VARIATIONS IN TEMPERATURE, HUMIDITY, AND UV RAYS.
Get in the habit of storing the helmet right away after a bike ride. That prevents it from getting left outside where it will be directly exposed to sun or rain. Do not store your child's bike helmet in a place that is overly exposed to temperature and moisture variation such as a garden shed or the back shelf of your car: "a bike helmet is certified effective at temperatures between -20°C and + 50°C. Outside of that temperature range, the quality of the materials - and therefore the shock absorption ability - may change," explains Angélique Noël, helmet engineer for B’TWIN.
2 – A SAFE, ACCESSIBLE PLACE
Children's bike helmets should be stable to prevent risks of falling. It needs to be easy to access so that it doesn't fall out of your hands when grabbing it!
